Stock statement format for your bank
A monthly stock statement lists the stock and receivables a bank lends against. This Excel format has one sheet for stock, one for debtors, one for creditors and one that calculates drawing power.

What each column means
| Category | Raw materials, work in progress, finished goods, stores and spares, goods in transit. |
| Opening | Value at the start of the period, matching last period's closing. |
| Additions | Purchases and production added during the period. |
| Issues or sales | Consumption and sales during the period, at cost. |
| Closing | Calculated: opening plus additions less issues. Must match your books. |
| Valuation basis | State how stock is valued, for example cost. |
| Remarks | Anything the bank should know, such as slow-moving stock. |
How to fill it in
- Take closing stock from your books at month end and split it by category.
- List debtors on the debtors sheet. The sheet counts days outstanding from the statement date.
- List creditors for goods on the creditors sheet.
- Enter your bank's margins and limit on the drawing power sheet.
- Check that closing stock matches your books before you sign.
If you rebuild this every month from Excel and Tally, an ERP can generate the same figures from live stock and debtor data.
