The Problem: Excel Notebooks Running a Perishable Operation

Amilma Ice is an ice cream manufacturer based in Kerala, producing over 40 SKUs across their product line — from classic vanilla tubs to seasonal fruit bars. 2. Real-Time Consumption Tracking

This early warning catches problems — a miscalibrated dosing machine, a new operator over-pouring, or a supplier delivering a lower-concentration ingredient — before they compound over weeks of production.

3. Expiry Alerts and FEFO Enforcement

OneBook enforces First Expiry, First Out (FEFO) logic across the cold store. When a production order is created, the system automatically selects the inventory batches closest to expiry. Operators see exactly which pallet to pull, eliminating the common problem of newer stock being used while older stock expires in the back of the freezer.

Expiry alerts trigger at configurable thresholds — 72 hours, 48 hours, 24 hours — giving the planning team time to either accelerate production using near-expiry materials or arrange disposal before the materials become a food safety risk.

The Results: 31% Waste Reduction in 90 Days

Within the first 90 days of going live, Amilma Ice measured the following improvements:

  • 31% reduction in raw material waste, driven primarily by FEFO enforcement and accurate BOM-based requisitioning
  • 18% reduction in over-production, because production orders were now tied to demand forecasts rather than manual estimates
  • Near-zero expired finished goods, down from an average of 4-6 pallets per month
  • Batch traceability compliance achieved across all product lines, satisfying FSSAI audit requirements without additional paperwork
